Noshad Alamiyan of Iran made light work of two-time Olympian, Omotayo Olajide, in the round of 64 of men’s singles table tennis, losing 1-4 at the 2024 Paris Olympics late Saturday.

According to Persecondnews, the Nigerian started the game in high spirits by winning the first set 11-6, but the Iranian turned the tides around by dominating the next two sets 5-11 and 4-1.

In the fourth set, Omotayo had a moment of hope as he started making up for the unfortunate previous two sets, but it was not enough as Alamiyan fought through to win the set in 10-12 and backed it up with 8-11 to end the game.

Omotayo matched his performance from his last Olympic outing in Tokyo, where he lost in four straight sets, 11-7, 11-9, 11-6, and 11-5, in the preliminary round of the event.
