The Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, has stated that he decided to be on the ground to support Team Nigeria at the ongoing African Athletics Senior Championships 2024 to witness athlete welfare firsthand and provide support to the Nigerian contingent in Douala, Cameroon.
Diana-Mary Nsan, the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, said in a statement on Thursday that Enoh pledged to be accessible at all times and provide much-needed support to Nigerian athletes as the general games master of the nation.
He also praised the country’s President for his visionary leadership and support for the sports sector.
He said: “I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our sports-loving president, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his leadership and undiluted support for Nigerian sports.
“His commitment continues to inspire and drive us towards excellence.”
He said the future of Nigerian athletics is bright, and we are hopeful for the very best.
Enoh expressed his gratitude to the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) for having him do a medal presentation, further showcasing his commitment to supporting Nigerian athletes on the international stage.
He added: “Being present at the championships gives me a defined perspective and allows me to address concerns in detail. It also gives me great delight to yield results that benefit our athletes.”
