The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended the nationwide indefinite strike for five days.

A dependable source at the Labour House disclosed to Persecondnews that after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of both the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday in Abuja, which ended at 11 a.m., organised labour resolved to end the industrial action.

The resolution came after the two-day-old strike brought the nation’s economy to its lowest point, including a nationwide blackout.

The source said: “We have suspended the strike; we will be heading to meet the government by 1:30 p.m. today.”

Persecondnews recalls that the federal government and organized labour had on Monday night agreed on a new minimum wage that is above N60,000.

The federal government called the meeting after labour started an indefinite nationwide strike to demand a living wage.
