The Nigerian Senate was forced to postpone its sitting on Tuesday as power outage hit the National Assembly complex.

The senators had to wait patiently for the restoration of power to the National Assembly building to start the day’s sessions.

Social media users reacted to a video that went viral showing the partially dark, Red Chamber.

A few minutes later, power was restored, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio opened plenary session.

Akpabio apologized for the outage and the heat in the Chamber and disclosed that approximately nine offices were still without power.

Commenting on the video on X, a user, #sweetheartadecx, wrote, “Breakfast na National cake. They should also feel what Nigerians are passing through.”

Another user, #KinginglyGeorge wrote, “#aedcelectricity if they haven’t paid their bills do not restore anything… they should go home.”
