The Big Brother Naija All Stars edition may have come and gone with the winner, Ilebaye living her moment, but one name and face many viewers and followers of the show expected to see while it lasted was Tobi Bakre.

Tobi was a former contestant on the show and had went from being a reality star to one of the most sought after actors currently gracing the silver screens and making every moment count for him.

Speaking with Per Second News recently at a public gathering that had other celebrities in attendance, he shared insights into his career and his latest project, “Slum King.”

Everybody wanted him on the BBNaija All Stars, but Tobi said his engagements at that time didn’t permit the adventure.

“Yeah, it was cold, but you know, I think the things I had to do, everything I had going on at the time, it just didn’t match. I couldn’t have that in my space at the time.”

Tobi said his journey from his early days on Africa Magic to becoming a prominent actor is an inspiring story to him and others who look up to him.

He reminisced about his humble beginnings on Africa Magic’s “Hustle,” where he, Ochuko, and Dayo made their first appearances.

Tobi admitted that his initial moments in front of the camera were awkward, but he worked hard to improve his skills.

Tobi talked about his experiences with scripts, especially when he received the massive script for “Slum King.” He explained that it was a challenge, but he embraced it, emphasizing the importance of preparation and understanding the audience’s needs.

When asked about his preference for action roles in Nollywood, Tobi expressed his love for such roles but also revealed his desire to explore other genres, including romantic dramas and even horror movies.

He proudly shared his feelings about receiving awards and acknowledged the importance of hard work and dedication in the entertainment industry.

Tobi’s journey in the entertainment world began with Big Brother, and he explained why he didn’t participate in the All-Stars edition, citing other commitments and a different phase in his life.

Regarding his future plans, Tobi emphasised the importance of focusing on the present and doing his best in the roles he currently holds, leaving room for future opportunities to unfold.

He expressed his deep appreciation for Africa Magic, MultiChoice, and their contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry. He praised their efforts in nurturing talent and creating quality content.

Speaking about his toughest character, Tobi said “So all of these characters kind of have their bits in me even till now, sometimes there is still Obalola in me, there is still Kala in me, they don’t totally go away. Of course I know my person and I’m reminded of my person every other day, so I hold on to who I am, but these characters do come and plug in and sometimes they just linger.”

He however encouraged people to watch “Slum King” and join the conversation about the series on social media, emphasizing its relatable and emotionally charged storyline.

On his new role as a father and husband, he said: “I know God does everything for you. It’s the balance I need. You know, I have enough inspiration and ginger to kind of go out there and do everything I do and then when I have to leave acting, when I have to, you know, detach from a character, I have a very soft landing.

I mean once I get home and my son is like daddy daddy daddy, come on, and then I see my small little angel and my beautiful wife, you know that’s all I need right now, I’m in a very very happy place in life.”

He revealed that his son and wife provide the inspiration and happiness he needs in his personal life.

The future looks bright for Tobi, who remains open to new opportunities and endeavours in the world of entertainment.

Fans can expect more from this versatile actor as he continues to evolve and make his mark in the industry.
