The Ondo State House of Assembly has served the State Deputy Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the letter of notice of his impeachment on the instruction of Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu.
The Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, told newsmen in Akure on Monday that the notice was served through a substituted service on September 25.
Persecondnews recalls that the House had last Wednesday during plenary directed the Clerk to write the Deputy Governor over alleged gross misconducts as compiled by Akeredolu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The ailing governor, who had been in Germany for the past three months, had transmitted power to the deputy through a letter to the lawmakers.
On his return about two weeks ago, Akeredolu did not report in his office in Akure but stayed in his Ibadan, Oyo State, home for his convalescence.
Oladiji, however, said the lawmakers had been trying to see how to serve Aiyedatiwa the notice, but was unable to achieve it until it went through the court.
He said : “We got an affidavit from the court through substituted service, so he has been served through his office. It was received by his secretary.
“Although there are people sending me messages to suppress me; I am not under any pressure, except the threats. This is a legislative assignment.”
The Speaker also alleged a threat to his life over the fetish objects dropped at the entrance to his official residence in the early hours of Monday, calling on the people of Ondo State and security agencies to arrest the perpetrators.
“Very early this morning, when I was about going out, I saw an object in front of my lodge.
“These threats started since the day we started the impeachment process. I have been receiving strange calls.
“My life has also been under serious threat from unknown people.
“I want to call on the people of Ondo State and security operatives to track these people down,” a seemingly worried speaker said.
