A popular Lagos socialite and owner of House of Phreedah, Farida Abdulkabir, whose N100 million marriage crashed two months after it was consummated, tried to jump into the lagoon on the 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Farida, fair-complexioned and pleasing to the eye, is an entrepreneur and socialite, who owns a beauty lounge and spa located at 116 Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos.
Persecondnews reports that as a result of the depression she fell into from the crashed marriage, Farida had driven her black coloured SUV to the Third Mainland Bridge to plunge into the lagoon.
“She could not endure the frustration and shame of the crashed two-month-old marriage and she decided to end her life as she alighted from her car,” a source said.
A video which has gone viral on the social media shows rescuers and first responders pursuing after her and holding Farida as she struggled to jump into the lagoon on Thursday.
The rescuers were seen pacifying her to desist from taking her life, assuring her that all would be well with her.
She was immediately driven away in her vehicle and taken to an undisclosed destination.
Persecondnews gathered that after her failed relationship, she married another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, in a grand marriage about two months ago but Okulaja walked out of the matrimonial home.
Farida and her estranged hubby had engaged in unending altercations and revealing “shocking family secrets” on social media and calling themselves some unprintable names.
However, efforts by both families and close allies to reconcile the estranged two lovers had failed.
