A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday granted the embattled Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, leave to serve the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS) Mr Yusuf Bichi, through substituted means the order of court granting him bail.

Following an ex-parte application moved by Emefiele’s counsel, Mrs. Ogonnaya Sonuga, the presiding judge, Justice Oweibo directed Emefiele’s remand in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Persecondnews had earlier reported that a Federal High Court in Maitama on July 27, struck out an application by the DSS, seeking to obtain an order to detain Emefiele for a further 14 days, two days after he was granted N50 million bail.

In the application marked FCT/HC/M/12105/2023, Counsel to the DSS, Mr Victor Ejelonu, said the new application was necessitated by a “fresh evidence” uncovered by the Service.
