Screening: House of Reps confirms service chiefs, after Senate’s approval

After undergoing mandatory screening, the five service chiefs have been confirmed by the House of Representatives.

The House announced the confirmation of the appointments on Wednesday after considering the report of an Ad-hoc Committee comprising all the principal officers.

They are Maj.-Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel lkechukwu Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

Persecondnews recalls that President Bola Tinubu had on June 19, 2023 appointed the new Service Chiefs, Inspector-General of Police and Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service.

This was contained in a statement by Mr. Willie Bassey, the Director, Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The statement said the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation by the National Assembly.

The House Committee, had on Monday, screened the four appointees following the request of the President.

Earlier, the Senate had cleared the service chiefs who will now be decorated with their new ranks.
