A 25-year-old woman, Rahama Sulaiman, has been detained by the Kano State Police Command for reportedly kidnapping her six-year-old daughter and demanding N3 million ransom from her ex-husband, the father of the girl.

Persecondnews gathered that Rahama, whose husband divorced her, allegedly took the daughter to a nearby relative in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State to keep for her claiming she would not be available for about four days.

Confirming the incident to newsman at the State Police Command headquarters on Friday, Police Commissioner Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said they received a report from Rahama’s ex-husband, Kabiru Shehu, that his daughter had been kidnapped.

In a follow-up investigation, the victim was “rescued” in Madobi council area while the woman confessed to kidnapping her daughter, he said.

According to him, she kidnapped her daughter because her ex-husband had not given her money to feed their children for over 10 months.

She said: “I called him and told him that our daughter was missing, and we went to the police together and reported the matter. Inside the police station, I gave him the number of the guy that would receive the ransom.”

The suspect, however, expressed regret over her actions and announced that she had reconciled with her husband.

The husband also confirmed that they had reconciled, adding that his wife had never done that before.
