Ahead of the May 29 inauguration of President-elect, Bola Tinubu, as the 16th democratically elected President of Nigeria, intense lobbying has begun within the different camps of Nigerian entertainers who supported the presidential ambition of Tinubu.
Information gathered by Per Seconds News revealed that leaders of each group in the entertainment in the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are said to have initiated moves and started reaching out to some top shots within APC in Lagos and the national level that would ensure they are considered favourably for juicy positions in Tinubu’s government.
Perseconds News reliably gathered that notable English and Yoruba speaking actors, who worked for the victory of the President-elect are being considered to lead the creative industry which will be created by the incoming government just as the Motion Picture Council of Nigeria (MOPICON) Bill which will create proper regulatory environment for the sub-sector of the creative industry is being talked about.
It was learnt that a top member of the APC-PCC from Kogi State is the rallying factor as a number of the of the actors have been visiting him since President-elect was declared winner of the February. 25 election.
Information pieced together revealed that some popular names on the list have been grouping to present a common name in order not to lose out of whatever deal is coming.
One of the members who spoke with Per Seconds News but didn’t want his name mentioned, said intense lobbying is normal when people need something from somebody who could get it for them.
He noted that some of his colleagues who belong to another group but worked for Tinubu’s victory have been speaking with the top shots in the APC to get them on their sides, adding that those who say lobbying has begun are right but nothing is assured yet.
President-elect, it was gathered , was said to have directed members of the PCC to the top politician from Kogi and assured those who worked hard to ensure that he emerged winner that he would take care of them.
The women wing of the PCC are also said to be putting pressure on some PCC leaders in the APC to consider them for juicy appointments in the government of Tinubu with some of them warning that they should not be be left out.
