The immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has won the Bayelsa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary held on Saturday in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Sylva floored Chief David Lyon, the 2019 governor-elect, who was removed by the Supreme Court on the eve of his inauguration as governor.
According to the results announced by retired Maj.-Gen. A.D Jubrin, Sylva, a former governor of the state, got 52,061 votes.
Mr Great Joshua MacIver collected 2,078 votes, while Lyon, who came a distant third received only 1,582 votes.
Also, Prof. Ongoebi Etebu polled 1,277 votes, while Mrs Ikisima Ogbomade earned 584 and Festus Daumiebi 557.
