Seun Kuti, Peter Okoye fight dirty over preferred presidential candidate

350

Peter Okoye of Psquare and Seun Kuti, one of the sons of legendary Afrobeats creator, Fela Kuti, have engaged in war of words over choice of Peter Obi of the Labour Party as a Presidential candidate, who is being backed by a large number of Nigerian youths.

Seun Kuti had said no presidential candidate can rescue Nigeria at this time but the people.

He lashed out at Obi and his staunch supporters, the Psquare, branding them opportunists who should never be trusted because they had once led several campaigns for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the past.

He took a swipe at Obi as well, saying he couldn’t claim to be the messiah the people need suddenly when he had just only quitted PDP 18 months to election.

According to Kuti, his preferred candidate is Omoyele Sowore but even while he knows does not stand any chance of winning.

He said Obi should not ride on the wave of his popularity and see himself as the people’s messiah.

Kuti further said the Psquare brothers are merely playing to the gallery as they have no moral justification to campaign for Peter Obi, who was recently a member of the PDP but left the party because he could not win the presidential primary of the party which ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar won.

Peter fired back, saying Kuti is frustrated, dirty and unhappy because while their music career continues to thrive across the globe, he (Kuti) is restricted to his locality.

“Dude, you are frustrated. You will remain in your local shrine if you remove Kuti from your name. Nobody would recognize you again.

“People like us will continue to excel globally. You can’t shame the shameless,” he boasted.
