FCT Minister orders arrest of housing officials, developer over Gwarimpa building collapse

"The Minister ordered the arrest of the FHA officers tasked with the responsibility of monitoring the building development and granting development permit"

Mallam Muhammad Bello, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has ordered security agencies to arrest the officials of the Federal Housing Authority and the developer of the collapsed two- storey building in Abuja.

Umar Shuaibu, the  Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, disclosed this to newsmen at a media briefing on Saturday in Abuja.

According to him, the Minister has ordered the arrest of the FHA officers tasked with the responsibility of monitoring the building development and granting development permit, as well as the developer, as well as the engineer supervising the development.

They will be arraigned in court for manslaughter, he said.

Persecondnews earlier reported the collapse of a two-storey building on Thursday at 6th Avenue in Gwarimpa Estate, which trapped 24 persons and claimed the lives of 3 people.
