Senator Ayogu Eze, a former spokesman of the Senate in the 6th and 7th Senate, has died.

Eze, 65, of the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) represented Enugu North in the Senate.

The senator passed on at an Abuja hospital during a protracted illness.

A founding member of the PD, Eze defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Enugu State Governorship poll in 2023.

He was appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Media in 2007 and on his reelection in 2011, he became the Chairman of the Committee on Works.

Eze also served as a member of the Senate Committees on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.

In May 2023, he was appointed along side four others federal commissioners in the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
