Just in: Gunmen attack ex-Governor, aides, police orderlies killed

The convoy of a former Imo Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, has been attacked by some yet-to-be apprehended gunmen l, leaving four people including his police orderlies dead.

According to a report just reaching Persecondnews, Ohakim’s convoy was attacked at Oriagu in Ehime Mbano council area of the troubled state on Monday evening.

The former PDP governor, who escaped by hairsbreadth, however, had his backup vehicle occupied by policemen and aides bombed.

Ohakim, who was with two of his children, was returning home from a visit when the gunmen struck.

A dependable source close to the governor said: “His Excellency was the main target but his driver was smart enough to beat them because they were driving to block him.

“Disappointed that their main target had escaped, they blocked his backup vehicle and burnt it.”
