The city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has lost another comedian, Peter Owomoyela, also known as Peteru.
Per Seconds News gathered that Peteru had been in and out of the hospital for some months as he was said to have been diagnosed with anal cancer.
His death is coming at a time when the city was yet to get over the death of another popular comedian and mimic king, Coesowflex, who was killed on December 4 by yet-to-be apprehended armed robbers.
The death of Peteru has thrown the entire entertainment industry into mourning as comedy kings, Ali Baba, Gbenga Adeyinka, Omo Baba among others who mentored the comedian in his life time.
News of his death, though still sketchy filtered in as many stakeholders in the entertainment industry, especially in Ibadan kept sealed lips over the sad occurrence.
Information also revealed that Peteru who would have performed at the Ali Baba’s January 1st concert was a well known stand up act whose style of jokes endeared him to many within and outside the city.
His annual comedy show, “Peteru Unleashed” is scheduled for February 2023 as it was his tradition.
Friends and fans of the comedian have been mourning as plans are being perfected by his close friends about how to break the sad news to his aged parents.
