The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Lauretta Onochie, the ex-Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media as the Chairman, Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Dr Samuel Ogbuku nomination was also confirmed as the Managing Director of the commission for a term of two years to complete the term of his predecessor in office.
Also confirmed are retired General Charles Ehigie Airhiavbare as Executive Director of Finance and Mr Charles Ogunmola as Executive Director, Project (Southwest).
The Upper Chamber also okayed Dimgba Eruba as member from Abia state (South East), Dr Emem Wilcox Wills ( Akwa-Ibom state, representing Southsouth), Elder Dimaro Denyanbofa (Bayelsa state), Hon Orok Duke (Cross river state ) and Hon Gbenga Odegba (Ondo Southeast).
Other members are Mr Elekwachi Dinkpa (River State Southsouth), Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Abubakar (Zonal representative, Nasarawa), Prof. Tahir Mamma, SAN. (Adamawa, Northeast representative) and Alhaji Sule Iko Sadeeq Sani Sani (Northwest Zonal representative).
However, the Senate voided the nomination of Dr Pius Odudu (Edo South South), Anthony Okanne (Imo state , Southeast) for appointment as board members for failing to appear before the screening panel.
Persecondnews recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari had on November 25 written to the Upper Chambers in accordance with the provision of Section 2(2)A of the NDDC Act, Cap N 86, laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004.
He had sought the confirmation of Onochie from Delta State as the Chairman and members of NDDC.
