Abdulmalik Tanko, a Kano school proprietor, kidnapper and killer of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar, his pupil, has been sent to the hangman.

A Kano State High Court which handed down the verdict on Thursday, also sentenced the child murderer to a five-year jail term for five other charges levelled against him.

Persecondnews recalls that Hanifa was abducted on December 4, 2021, on her way home from Islamiyya and subsequently discovered to have been killed by the convict, who is her teacher and school proprietor.

He had demanded a N6 million ransom from the parents at Dakata, Nasarawa Local Government Area after fatal poisoning of the child.

Justice Usman Naaba also found guilty the second accused in the case, Hashim Isiyaku, on the four charges brought against him and was also sentenced to death by hanging.

In addition, the court gave him a two-year prison term for attempts to kidnap.

The third accused, Fatima Musa, was equally found culpable on four counts in the murder case.

The judge sentenced Fatima to one year imprisonment each on the two counts of conspiracy and attempt to kidnap because of her status as a nursing mother.

Naaba spelt out the five-count charge as kidnapping Hanifa Abubakar, attempting to kidnap her, counselling to kidnap her, abatement and poisoning her to death.
