After weeks of speculation and denial, the Lagos State Governorship candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Olajide Adediran a.k.a Jandor, has announced the Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, as his running mate for the 2023 poll.
Akindele from Ikorodu division of the state came atop of the list of four names penciled down as running mate to Adediran who defected from APC to PDP in 2021.
Among those shortlisted are Rhodes-Vivour and Kolawole, all from Lagos West, the same senatorial district with Jandor.
Persecondnews reports that party sources said some reasons informed the decision for zeroing in on Akindele.
First, she is from Ikorodu and Lagos East Senatorial District like the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and she is also from the royal family in the town.
Akindele’s name is expected to be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2023 polls.
