Apparently in a bid to pressure him to step down, President Muhammadu Buhari has held a meeting with Kogi Governor and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Yahaya Bello, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The agenda of the meeting is shrouded in secrecy, but a reliable source at the Villa said it might not be unconnected with the ongoing presidential primary as he may be prevailed on to step down to allow power shift to the South.
Persecondnews recalls that Bello, who is in his 40s, was cleared alongside 23 presidential aspirants by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led Screening Committee last week to contest the primary of the party.
On Monday, APC Northern Governors Forum had met with President Buhari to announce their resolve on the need for power to shift to the South but Bello was absent.
Plateau Gov. Simon Lalong and Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, had earlier told reporters that they had given President Buhari names of top five aspirants for his consideration.
Buhari had mooted consensus presidential candidate for the party ahead of the special presidential convention.
The big five are Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos State governor, Chief Bola Tinubu, Ekiti Gov. Kayode Fayemi, immediate past Transportation Minister, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and Ebonyi Gov. Dave Umahi.
