Insecurity in the Southeast has again claimed a senior Christian cleric, the head of Methodist Church in Nigeria, Prelate Samuel Kanu Uche, who was abducted in Abia State on Sunday.

According to reports, two other clerics — Methodist Bishop of Owerri, the Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the prelate’s chaplain — were kidnapped along with the man of God.

Persecondnews learnt they were seized on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Umunneochi Local Government Area.

“The men of God were returning from a church event in Umunneochi before the unfortunate incident.

While confirming the abductions, Abia State Police Command spokesman, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, said: “It’s quite unfortunate. Efforts are on top gear toward his rescue as well as other priests with him.

We solicit credible information from the public toward their rescue, please.”

No ransom has yet to be demanded by their abductors.
