The Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brig.-Gen Buba Marwa , has requested that officials of the agency be allowed to conduct drug integrity tests for politicians seeking political offices in the country.
The NDLEA boss, who made the request while speaking during the 1st quarter award ceremony of the agency in Abuja, said the drug test is necessary to ensure that politicians vested with important national offices do not use budgetary allocations to buy cocaine or Methamphetamine instead of providing needed services for the masses.
Marwa said he had written a letter to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, ahead of the party’s primaries, requesting that operatives of NDLEA be allowed to conduct drug integrity tests on politicians aspiring for higher offices.
He promised to write to the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties when they are ready to conduct their party primaries.
