An Ibadan-bound Lagos-Ibadan train on Thursday came to an abrupt halt after running out of diesel.

The crew members unashamedly told passengers that the train stopped moving because its diesel had been exhausted.

“Boarded Train from Ibadan to Lagos. We’re still stuck in the forest with unknown Chinese Men,” a passenger, Mr  King Isaiah Obadore, had twitted.

“They said fuel finished. What a beautiful country, Nigeria.”

In a trending video, another passenger was seen commenting about the situation while some passengers were seen hanging around the train or sitting on the track with security men positioned at strategic locations.

Contacted, Mr Mahmood Yakubu, the spokesman for the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), claimed ignorance of the situation.

“I don’t know. I am not aware of it. I’ll find it about it and feed you back,” he said.

The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has yet to comment on the situation.

Persecondnews.com recalls that the price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) also known as diesel, had hit N625 per litre in some filling stations on Tuesday.
