A part-time pastor and staff of a local government in Ekiti State has been gunned down and his body dumped on the highway.

The cleric, Kayode Ogunleye, was shot dead on banana plantation off Aramoko-Ijero-Ekiti road by some yet-to-be apprehended gunmen and dumped in a forest.

The motive for the murder of Ogunleye, a staff of Ekiti West Local Government and pastor at All Christian Fellowship Church, is not clear yet.

Persecondnews recalls that a red-alert had last week been issued about an invasion of the state by bandits.

A violent bank robbery at Iye-Ekiti was busted by the police with the vehicles of the fleeing robbers recovered.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for Ekiti State Police Command, Mr Sunday Abutu, has confirmed the incident.

He said police were working on a theory that it might have been a murder case.
