Coronavirus-infected U.S. returnee dies in Lagos

Lagos State has recorded yet another fatality — a 56-year-old Nigerian man who recently returned from the United States.

He reportedly died of COVID-19 related complications, Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, announced on Tuesday.

The death of the returnee brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos to 6.

Abayomi appealed to residents to remain alert in the various  communities, report people who show signs of the infection and obey instructions aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19.

He asked residents to call — 08000CORONA – to report COVID-19 related cases.

Persecondnews recalls that as of April 13, Lagos recorded 192 cases of coronavirus  with the number of active cases put at 120.

So far 61 patients have recovered and discharged, 2 evacuated back to their countries, 3 transferred to their states.
