After a week-long self-isolation, tests and prayers, Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde says he has recovered and tested positive for the COVID-19.
In a message announcing his haleness on Sunday evening via his Twitter handle — Seyi Makinde (@seyiamakinde, Makinde said: “I now tests negative for the virus’’.
Persecondnews recalls that the PDP governor, who has been applauded for his proactive policies and performance, had tested positive for coronavirus on March 30.
According to him, he received his second negative test result on Sunday evening which cleared him of the virus.
Makinde gave effusive thanks and appreciation to those who supported him with prayers during the “intervening period’’.
The governor, healthier and haler, promised to resume duty as the Head of the COVID-19 Task Force team in the state on Monday.
He tweeted: “I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19.
“I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force.
“I am also grateful to all members of the Task Force for their cooperation during this time. I will be resuming my responsibility as Head of the Task Force from tomorrow (April 6).”
Persecondnews also recalls that Alonge is the immediate past Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
