Royal assault: Magistrate orders Iwo monarch to appear in court

For allegedly assaulting a fellow traditional ruler, the Oluwo of Iwo in Osun State, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has been ordered to appear in court.
An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court issued the summons while ruling in an exparte application.
Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara directed the Police to “put the traditional ruler on notice” before a date would be fixed for hearing of the case.
Persecondnews recalls that the Oluwo had allegedly physically assaulted another monarch,  Agbowu of Ogbaagba,  Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo during a peace meeting on Feb. 14.

The meeting was called to settle a land dispute in Iwo between the  two monarchs.

The peace meeting which was convened by an Assistant-Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Mr  Bashir Makama, held in his office.

Police Prosecutor Soji  Oyetayo had earlier asked the court for an order on motion exparte in order to file an application against the Oluwo over the alleged assault.
