Money laundering: PDP’s Olisa Metuh bags 39 years after 4-year-long trial

For laundering N400 million, Olisa Metuh, a former spokesman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been sentenced to 39 years behind bars.

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court, Abuja, who gave the verdict on Tuesday, said Metuh was found guilty of the seven-count charge slammed on him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was tried forbillegally receiving N400 million from the office of the National Security Adviser under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

The judge sentenced Metuh on counts one and two to seven years each, while on count three he was given five years and count four, seven years.

He got three years each on counts five and six and bagged seven years for count 7.

Avant, however, said the sentences are to run concurrently, with Metuh spending only seven years.
