To further give a fillip to its reforms, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has takenanother giant stride as it aggressively embarks on digitizing its downstream operations. To this end, NNPC has deployed innovation and information technology to entrench downstream competitiveness.

The Chief Operating Officer, Downstream, Mr Adeyemi Adetunji, disclosed this assertion whiledeclaring  open the 13th Oil Trading and Logistics Expo in Lagos.

The  conference which has as its theme, “Growth, Innovation and Technology”, is an annual PanAfrican platform dedicated to the promotion of business, policy and stakeholder relationships indownstream  petroleum markets across the African continent.

Adetunji said emerging market trends toward a digitized and automated world had necessitated a rapidshift  in focus for all downstream players in the nation’s oil sector. “Old approaches of driving cost efficiency and safety are pretty much exhausted, hence in line with the corporation’s TAPE Agenda, Transparency, Accountability and Performance Excellence.

“ NNPC is aggressively working on digitizing its downstream operations,’’  said Adetunji,  who wasrepresented by the Managing Director, Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Mr BalaWunti.
