In spite of Federal High Court order, the Department of State Services (DSS) has yet to release the publisher of Saraha Reporters and converner of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, saying it has not received the order.
The DSS is still keeping Sowore in custody despite fulfilling his bail conditions on September 25.
Sowore is spending his 51st day in the DSS custody following his arrest in his Lagos hotel room ahead of the planned protest early August.
The spokesperson of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunnaya said the “agency is yet to receive the Federal High Court, Abuja’s order granting Sowore bail.
“We have not received the court order. And his (Sowore’s) counsel is a very senior member of the bar and he knows the process to follow; this process has not been followed,” he said.
Sowore’s lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, who was at the DSS headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, had vowed not to quit their office until
Sowore was released to him as directed by the court and after fulfilling the bail conditions.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo had ordered the DSS to release Sowore to his lawyer and directed the suspect, who is being with treason, money laundering and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari, to deposit his travel documents with the court within 48 hours.
He also said Falana must produce him any time he was needed by the court.
The judge had also threatened to jail the Director-General of DSS if he failed to obey the court’s order.
