Greetings in the most powerful name in all of the Earth, Heaven and beneath the Earth- The name of Jesus Christ! How comforting is it for one to know that the name of Jesus is our stronghold.
Our text is taken from 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ “
The Holy Spirit teaches us several strategies on how to war. First strategy is the awareness that, it’s not a ‘flesh’ war, you fight from the Spirit, for the flesh cannot comprehend the things of the spirit, so when the Holy Spirit is giving you peculiar and specific strategies for war, he is speaking to your Spirit Man. Second strategy is to ensure we are totally submitted to the Holy Spirit so we hear Him clearly on the ways to fight. Lately, the Holy Spirit is teaching me critical war tactics and it’s my desire to share some with you. Probably some of you already know; Worship, Love, The Spoken Word (Declarations) and Faith (Belief). I will share on Worship today.
Worship:
The Holy Spirit speaks of worship as a weapon of warfare for ‘pulling down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God’. Heartfelt Worship is mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Worship is ‘exalting God” above all things. God inhabits our praise, that just simply means as you worship, the Lord comes to dwell in your worship, in that place He knows all you are facing and is sending help your way. He assures you of the victory and He instructs you on what to do – (Move or be still). Worship also puts God in perspective and moves you away from every thought that threatens to create doubt and disbelief in God’s ability to help you.
Worship as a weapon of warfare is a proclamation in the Spirit realm of how mighty your God is. It is an announcement of the Jehovah, Our God mighty in Battle, it says to the enemy – God is here in my Worship, you fight Him.
We see great examples of where worship was used as a spiritual weapon and we saw the victories manifest in the physical.
First example is found in 2 Chronicles 20 – The King Jehoshaphat had three kings (Moab, Ammon, Seir) coming against him in battle, the King sought God’s counsel and then went into battle with the worshippers leading the way, it is said in the scripture that as they went praising, The Lord set an ambush against the three Kings! The Victory was won by God through the strategy of worship as a tool.
Another more current example is found in Acts of the Apostles 16: 16-34, Paul and Silas were imprisoned in Phillipi Macedonia, however despite being beaten and thrown in jail, they were in high spirits, praying and singing hymns to God, just about midnight, there was an earthquake and the doors of the jails were opened and the chains that held them bound were broken and fell off! And the amazing thing is that all other prisoners experienced God’s deliverance of Paul and Silas.
What is it that faces you? And is challenging the authority of God over your life? What is causing you so much despair that you wonder if God is for you? What is holding you back from living out your God-story today? What is that mountain?
Today Exalt the name of our God above it all. Set your eyes on the King of kings and worship Him! Go to war with the worship of the Most High God in your mouth and His Presence. The Battle is the Lord’s and the Victory is yours. Alleluia!!!
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, please teach me how to worship in spirit and in truth and how to use this as a weapon of warfare.
CHARGE FOR THE WEEK: Cultivate a heart and lifestyle of worship
