A scuffle broke out between social media personalities – Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), and Freedom Atsepoyi, aka Mr Jollof – on United Nigeria Airlines flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport on Monday, leaving passengers stunned.

Chibuike Uloka, the airline’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the altercation, saying, “In full compliance with global aviation safety protocols, our crew responded immediately and professionally to de-escalate the situation.”

Both VDM and Mr Jollof were deboarded without delay to ensure the safety and comfort of fellow passengers.

Uloka added: “Both passengers were deboarded without delay to ensure the safety, comfort, and security of all other passengers and crew members. They were subsequently handed over to airport security for further investigation.”

The flight departed safely, while the two social media stars remained with authorities.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has vowed to take action against the duo, with Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, warning, “There is no tolerance for unruly behaviour aboard an aircraft. Both individuals will face the full weight of the law.”

The NCAA is seeking a full report on the incident and may advise the airline to blacklist the passengers.

United Nigeria Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behaviour.

Passengers caught engaging in such conduct risk facing prosecution and being placed on a no-fly list.
