A new chapter has opened in Ibadanland’s storied history as former Oyo State Governor, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, was crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland in a grand ceremony.

The traditional coronation rites took place at the Ose Meji Temple in the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.

Having earlier received the sacred Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Oba Ladoja will be formally presented with the staff and instrument of office by Governor Seyi Makinde at the historic Mapo Hall.

Persecondnews reports that Gov. Makinde cut short his annual leave on Thursday, September 25, to attend Oba Ladoja’s coronation.

Ladoja became Olubadan-designate following the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors on Monday, July 7, 2025.
