Dating Rumours: Eniola Ajao Speaks Out on Viral Backlash at Adekola’s Father’s Funeral

2.6k

Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao has spoken out after finding herself at the centre of heated controversy following her appearance at the burial ceremony of veteran actor Odunlade Adekola’s late father.

The actress, who has long been rumoured to share more than a professional relationship with Adekola, came under fire after a viral clip from the event captured her with a gesture many online users interpreted as mocking.

Critics accused her of showing insensitivity at a time meant for mourning, fueling fresh gossip about tension and hidden undertones in her relationship with Adekola.

As the backlash intensified, Ajao took to social media with a cryptic yet firm response, making it clear she would not be drawn into what she described as a cycle of lies and rumours.

“Life hits differently when you stop trying to prove you didn’t say that, do that, or you’re not like that. You can’t fix every lie and every rumour, nor can you defend yourself every time something is said about you. Just be great,” she wrote.

She added: “People may destroy your image, stain your personality, but they can’t take away your good deeds because no matter how they describe you, you will still be admired by those who know you better.”

Though Ajao did not directly address the specific gesture that triggered the criticism, her post has been widely interpreted as a subtle dismissal of both the burial controversy and long-standing rumours about her alleged romance with Adekola.

For years, speculation has trailed the duo, with fans pointing to their frequent collaborations on screen and their close rapport off set as proof of a deeper relationship.

While neither Ajao nor Adekola has ever publicly confirmed or denied the rumours, the persistent whispers have kept them both in the gossip mill.

The burial incident has now reignited those conversations, with some suggesting the actress’ behaviour at the event was a reflection of their alleged closeness.

Others, however, have defended Ajao, arguing that the clip was taken out of context and that she remains a respected figure in the industry.

Whether Ajao’s statement will calm the storm or further fuel speculation remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the actress has made it clear she will not spend her energy defending herself against every narrative spun around her name.
