Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has made a statement in the Afrobasket quarterfinals, thrashing Cameroon 83-47 in Abidjan.

The team’s dominant performance saw them outscore their opponents by 36 points, showcasing their skill, strategy, and teamwork.

At halftime, D’Tigress had already established a significant lead, 41-29, thanks to the impressive performances of Amy Okonkwo and Victoria Macaulay.

Okonkwo led the charge with 15 points, while Macaulay contributed 10 points.

The team’s strong defence and efficient offence allowed them to maintain their lead throughout the game.

The Nigerian team continued their unbeaten streak in Africa since 2017, demonstrating their prowess on the continent.

Skipper Sarah Ogoke made a notable return to the team and marked her comeback with a crucial 3-point basket.

Notably, all 12 players got a chance to play and scored, highlighting the team’s depth and talent.

This victory has secured D’Tigress a spot in the semifinals of the 2025 Afrobasket Women’s Championship in Ivory Coast.
