The stage is set for a thrilling quarterfinals matchup at the 2025 Women Afrobasket as Nigeria’s D’Tigress prepares to face Cameroon’s Lionesses at the Palais de Sports Treichville in Abidjan.

The two teams will clash on Thursday, with a semifinal spot on the line.

The D’Tigress, who finished top of their group, have been well-rested and refreshed after a two-day break, giving them a significant advantage.

Persecondnews reports that coach Rene Wakama’s team is bolstered by the return of experienced Shooting Guard, Sarah Ogoke, who missed the team’s previous two games.

Ogoke’s wealth of experience will be crucial in the high-stake matchup against Cameroon.

Wakama has expressed confidence in her team’s abilities, saying, “This is the business end of the tournament, and as a team, we know what is at stake. We are following through our set goals with each game.”

She said the Afrobasket is getting tougher, reflecting the improving standard of women’s basketball on the continent.

The quarterfinals schedule promises an action-packed day, with four matches set to be decided.

Uganda will take on debutants South Sudan, Mali will play Mozambique, and host Ivory Coast will face Senegal in other exciting clashes.

The D’Tigress and Lionesses will lock horns in the last game of the day, scheduled to tip off at 10.00 pm Nigerian time.

With both teams known for their competitive spirit, the matchup promises to be an intense and closely contested affair.

The D’Tigress will aim to leverage their experience and teamwork to outpower the Lionesses and secure a spot in the semifinals.
