The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced a significant milestone in the construction of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project.
According to a post on the company’s official X handle on Tuesday, the pipeline has successfully crossed the River Niger, marking a major achievement in the project’s execution.
The national oil company wrote: “NNPC Ltd. Announces Successful River Niger Crossing on AKK Gas Pipeline.”
Persecondnews reports that the AKK pipeline, spanning approximately 614 kilometers, is designed to transport 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day.
The project aims to boost power generation, industrialization, and residential gas supply across Nigeria’s northern corridor.
The pipeline’s completion is expected to drive economic growth, reduce energy costs, and promote industrial development in the region.
