Al Ahly, the record holder of the championship, has secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship after dismissing Kenya Prisons 3-1 (25-12, 25-20, 22-25, 27-25).

The Egyptian side dominated the match, showcasing their skills and strength in the game.

The match started with Al Ahly taking an early lead, winning the first set 25-12.

They maintained their momentum in the second set, with Tatjana Bokan leading the charge with a series of powerful attacks.

Despite some errors, Al Ahly’s powerful hits proved too much for Kenya Prisons, and they took the set 25-20.

Kenya Prisons fought back in the third set, making a passionate comeback and leveling the score 12-12.

They took the lead 16-15 and eventually won the set 25-22.

However, Al Ahly regrouped and dominated the fourth set, with both teams fully engaged.

A couple of key blocks and hitting errors from Kenya Prisons set Al Ahly up for a 27-25 win, securing their spot in the semifinals.

Al Ahly’s coach, Mohamed Moselhy, expressed his frustration with some of the referee’s decisions, saying, “This is unacceptable.”

However, an official who spoke exclusively to Persecondnews accused Al Ahly of attempting to pressure the referee, stating, “We understand the tactics of the Egyptian side, they want to put pressure on the referee, but we are bigger than that.”

With this win, Al Ahly continues its dominance in the championship, solidifying its position as one of the top teams in Africa.
