In a thrilling encounter at the ongoing 2025 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja on Sunday, Kenya Prisons Volleyball Club dominated Nigeria’s Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers, winning in straight sets (25-22, 25-9, 25-16).

The convincing victory sealed Kenya Prisons’ spot in the knockout round, leaving CNS reeling from their second consecutive loss.

In an exclusive chat with Persecondnews, Kenya’s Coach Josp Barasa attributed his team’s success to their meticulous preparation and tactical discipline.

“We played well today; our combination and movement were amazing, and we served well all through the set,” Barasa said.

“We capitalized on their mistakes, and now we have qualified for the knockout round. We will build on this momentum to go far in this championship.”

Barasa revealed that his team had studied CNS’s gameplay and exploited their weaknesses, particularly their Libero.

“They listened to instructions and targeted the Libero of CNS, and it worked,” he explained.

The tactical move paid off, as Kenya Prisons dictated the pace of the game, leaving CNS struggling to keep up.

Nigeria’s CNS team experienced a setback with this loss, which contrasts with their promising start to the championship.

The team’s initial success raised expectations, making this outcome particularly disheartening.

Persecondnews reports that as the tournament progresses, CNS will need to regroup and restrategize to regain their momentum.

Kenya Prisons is capitalizing on the momentum from their win, with aspirations to advance far in the championship.

The team’s confidence and determination are expected to drive their performance as they pursue a strong finish.
