The three-day event, scheduled to take place from March 6-8, 2025, at the prestigious Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, promises to be an exciting spectacle.
Persecondnews reports that Nigeria, determined to claim the top spot after finishing third in the previous edition, will face stiff competition from neighbouring powerhouses Benin Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.
With the tournament coinciding with the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS, the entire sub-region is eagerly anticipating a thrilling and exciting competition.
Since its inception in 2001, the ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament has grown exponentially in participation and organization.
The first edition, held in Niger Republic, featured just three countries, including the host nation, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso.
This year’s edition in Abuja is a testament to the tournament’s rapid evolution, with the entire wrestling community in West Africa eagerly looking forward to the event.
As the host nation, Nigeria is under pressure to deliver a memorable performance.
