Amidst controversy and opposition from some quarters, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has exercised his civic duty by casting his vote in the local government elections currently underway in the state.

Persecondnews reports that Adeleke cast his vote at 7:56 am at Unit 9, Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, located in the Ede North Local Government Area.

The governor arrived at the polling unit, accompanied by his supporters and some People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members.

Speaking to newsmen after casting his vote, Adeleke commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission(OSSIEC) for conducting a peaceful election, describing it as a job well done.

He also advised residents to go out and cast their votes without any fear of intimidation, urging political stakeholders and electorate to shun violence during and after the election.

The governor expressed confidence that all PDP candidates would emerge victorious in the elections.

He said: “I want to urge everyone to come out and cast their votes. The election will be peaceful.”

Prior to the election, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) have advised against the election, with the police citing security concerns and the AGF saying that it would amount to a violation of the Appeal Court order which reinstated the sacked APC council chairmen.
