In a bid to enhance domestic gas utilization for businesses and industries, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) and BUA Group have signed a shareholders’ agreement for the development of a 45mmscf Mini-LNG Plant in Ajaokuta.

The signing ceremony, held at NGML’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, marked a significant milestone in the project, which is expected to drive economic growth, support the gas-to-power initiative, and contribute to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.

According to NGML, the project is part of efforts to increase domestic gas utilization and support the federal government’s gas-to-power initiative.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to enhancing domestic gas utilization and supporting the government’s efforts to increase power generation and industrialization,” said Justin Ezeala, Managing Director of NGML.

The 45mmscf Mini-LNG Plant is expected to provide a reliable source of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for industrial and commercial users, reducing dependence on imported fuels and supporting the growth of Nigerian industries.

BUA Group’s Executive Director, Kabiru Rabiu, expressed optimism about the project’s potential to drive economic growth and support Nigeria’s energy security.
