The NNPC Foundation has embarked on a humanitarian mission to provide 1,000 free cataract extraction surgeries in Lagos State.

The initiative, aimed at restoring sight and improving lives, will take place from January 7 to 14, 2025, at various locations across the state.

In a post on X late Thursday, the national oil company stated that the free surgeries will be conducted at designated centers, including Ikeja Local Government Area on January 7 and 8, Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on January 9 and 10, and Gbagada General Hospital from January 13 to 17.

The Foundation urged residents of Lagos State to take advantage of this opportunity to get screened and have their sight restored.

According to the Foundation, avoidable blindness can be prevented, and this initiative aims to make a significant impact in reducing the prevalence of cataract-related blindness in Lagos State.

The Foundation also urged the public to spread the word and help reach those in need of the life-changing intervention.
