In a historic milestone, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has achieved the remarkable feat of restarting the 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) in Warri, Delta State.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Mr. Mele Kyari, unveiled this achievement during a facility tour on Monday.

According to Persecondnews, the successful restart of WRPC is a shining testament to the NNPCL team’s unwavering resolve and tireless efforts to revive the plant.

This accomplishment underscores the company’s commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s refining capabilities and bolstering the nation’s energy sector.

Kyari’s remarked during the tour underscoring the significance of this achievement, saying: “We want you to see that this is real… We have proved that it is possible to restart a plant that you deliberately shut down.”

This triumph is a resounding affirmation of Nigeria’s capabilities and a bold statement of national pride.

The WRPC’s restart is a crucial milestone in Nigeria’s quest to become a net exporter of petroleum products. With the plant’s initial stage, Area 1, now operational, it is poised to produce high-quality diesel, kerosene, naphtha, and other products.

This development is expected to generate substantial revenue for the country, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of transforming Nigeria into a major petroleum products exporter.

The NNPCL’s accomplishment is all the more remarkable considering the skepticism and doubts that had surrounded the project.

Kyari’s leadership and the team’s perseverance have silenced critics and demonstrated that, with unwavering commitment and expertise, even the most daunting challenges can be overcome.

As Kyari aptly put it:”Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real.”

The successful restart of the WRPC is a shining example of what can be achieved when vision, determination, and expertise come together.

As Nigeria continues on its journey to becoming a major player in the global energy landscape, this achievement serves as a powerful reminder of the country’s potential and its people’s unwavering resolve.
