The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, has called for unity among the various Nigerian Supporters Clubs to enhance their impact on the nation’s sports teams.

He made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club, led by its President, Abayomi Ogunjimi, on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Olopade commended Ogunjimi’s unwavering dedication and passion for supporting Nigeria’s national teams.

He acknowledged the significant contributions of the Authentic Nigeria Supporters Club since its establishment, emphasizing their role in uplifting the morale of athletes and fans alike.

“I am honoured by this show of love and support from the Authentic Supporters Club, especially its President, Abayomi Ogunjimi. The National Sports Commission, under the leadership of Mallam Shehu Dikko and myself, will always back the activities of the Supporters Club,” Olopade affirmed.

The DG also pointed out the need for all Supporters Club factions to merge into a single, unified body to maximize their influence at sporting events.

He encouraged them to extend their support beyond football to other sports, ensuring every athlete and discipline enjoys similar enthusiasm and encouragement.

“This is why I am urging all Supporters Clubs to come together with one voice, singing one song at the stadium.

“Let the Supporters Club not just focus on football but on other sports, as they also deserve the same sense of support,” Olopade added.

In his response, Ogunjimi praised the NSC’s leadership for its vision and commitment to revitalizing Nigerian sports.

He expressed confidence in the appointments of Mallam Shehu Dikko as Chairman and Bukola Olopade as DG, describing them as the right individuals to lead the sector’s transformation.

“Nigerian sports will never remain the same with the leadership of Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade. I have no doubt they are the best hands to revamp our sports sector,” Ogunjimi said.

During the visit, Ogunjimi presented Olopade with a jersey and a framed photograph as tokens of appreciation.

Olopade restated his commitment to fostering unity among supporters and emphasized that the NSC’s efforts would signal a new era of synergy-focused actions to elevate Nigeria’s sports sector across all disciplines.
