France expels Osam bin Laden’s son over pro-terrorism social media posts

"In addition to his expulsion, Retailleau signed an order banning Omar bin Laden from returning to France for any reason"

French authorities have ordered Omar bin Laden, son of slain Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, to leave the country due to his social media posts advocating terrorism.

France’s new Interior Minister, Bruno Retailleau, announced the decision on Tuesday.

Omar bin Laden, 43, born in Saudi Arabia, had been living in Normandy, northern France, since 2016.

However, investigations in 2023 uncovered pro-terrorism remarks on his social media accounts, leading to the revocation of his stay.

Retailleau stated that the prefect of Orne issued an order for Omar bin Laden to leave French territory, citing national security concerns.

The courts later confirmed the decision.

In addition to his expulsion, Retailleau signed an order banning Omar bin Laden from returning to France for any reason.

This move aims to prevent potential threats to national security and uphold France’s zero-tolerance policy regarding terrorism.
