CJN to swear in 87 new SANs as Supreme Court begins new legal year

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on September 30 swear in 87 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) as part of the programs lined up to formally herald the 2024/2025 legal year of the judiciary.
The Supreme Court of Nigeria’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr Akande Festus, signed a statement announcing the CJN’s state-of-the-judiciary address, which aims to showcase the Supreme Court’s and the Nigerian judiciary’s overall performance in the 2023/2024 legal year.
Other leading stakeholders in the justice sector will present speeches bordering on the state of the justice sector of the country.
The stakeholders include high-profile individuals such as the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), along with other notable figures.
Persecondnews recalls that the Supreme Court commenced its annual vacation on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Though the court had started sitting since Monday, September 23, 2024, the new legal year ceremony is now being formally held in accordance with its tradition.
