Nigeria’s Super Eagles have retained their 39th position in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, released Thursday.
The team’s recent performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, including a 3-0 win over Benin Republic and a 0-0 draw with Rwanda, did not impact their global standing.
According to Persecondnews, both fixtures were qualifying games for Morocco’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Morocco solidified its position as Africa’s football powerhouse, maintaining its 14th spot globally in the latest FIFA rankings.
The Atlas Lions continue to lead the continent by 1676.14 points, holding a comfortable margin over Senegal, which is ranked 21st worldwide with 1620.87 points.
With 1515.64 points, Egypt, Africa’s third-best team, ranks 31st globally, followed by Cote d’Ivoire in 33rd place and Tunisia in 36th.
Nigeria will play Libya in two-legged qualifying matches in October 2024.
Globally, Argentina remains the world’s top-ranked team, buoyed by their 2022 World Cup victory.
France and Spain follow closely, occupying second and third spots, respectively.
Other football giants such as England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy round out the top 10.
