After about a seven-year stint as Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has resigned.

He reportedly tendered his resignation letter to President Tinubu on Friday.

Abubakar was appointed the NIA DG by former President Muhammadu Buhari on January 10, 2018.

Fielding questions from journalists after tendering his resignation letter, Abubakar said that the president has accepted his resignation, describing his action as a “routine thing.”
